We scrutinized paranasal sinus computed tomography (PNSCT) images of children to analyze the correlation of nasal septal deviation (SD) angle with maxillary sinus volumes. The retrospective study involved PNSCT images of 106 children, each presenting with a one-sided nasal septal deviation. According to the SD angular measurement, two subgroups were identified. Group 1 (n=54) displayed an SD angle of 11. Group 2 (n=52) exhibited an SD angle greater than 11. While prior studies indicated an increasing rate of anemia in the U.S., contemporary data concerning this issue are significantly lacking. We investigated anemia's prevalence and trends in the U.S. from 1999 to 2020 by analyzing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys. Differences based on factors like gender, age, race, and the ratio of household income to the poverty line were then scrutinized. Through application of World Health Organization criteria, the presence of anemia was determined. We conducted an analysis of the factor structure and reliability of this measure, applying uIRMA data from 356 U.S. women (ages 25-35) recruited via CloudResearch's MTurk platform, focusing on community samples of adult women. The five-factor structure (She Asked For It, He Didn't Mean To, He Didn't Mean To [Intoxication], It Wasn't Really Rape, She Lied subscales) was strongly supported by confirmatory factor analysis, which also showed high internal reliability for the overall scale (r = .92) and a good model fit. The “He Didn't Mean To” rape myth enjoyed the highest level of endorsement in the overall sample, contrasting sharply with the “It Wasn't Really Rape” myth, which was endorsed the least. RMA findings and participant details revealed that political conservatism, religious affiliation (predominantly Christian), and heterosexual identity were significantly correlated with a higher rate of agreement with rape myth constructs. Victimization history, educational background, and social media use yielded mixed findings concerning RMA subscale measures, while age, race/ethnicity, income level, and regional location displayed no relationship with RMA. Although findings suggest the uIRMA is a suitable metric for measuring RMA in community samples of adult women, optimizing administration, particularly by standardizing the 19-item and 22-item versions, and the directionality of the Likert scale, is necessary for comparative analyses across studies and periods. Intervention strategies for rape prevention must target ideological adherence to patriarchal and other oppressive belief systems, a possible underlying factor linked to higher RMA endorsement among women from certain groups.

A prevailing viewpoint maintains that an increase in female representation within the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields has the potential to lessen violence against women, as a consequence of advancing gender equality. However, some research findings unveil a contrasting phenomenon where improvements in gender equality are followed by a rise in sexual violence against women. This study assesses SV within the context of female undergraduates, specifically comparing students with STEM majors against those with non-STEM majors. From July to October of 2020, data was collected from a sample of 318 undergraduate women at five institutions of higher education in the United States. To ensure representativeness, the sampling was stratified across STEM and non-STEM majors, and male-dominated and gender-balanced major groups. The revised Sexual Experiences Survey served as the instrument for measuring SV. Women pursuing STEM degrees in departments with balanced gender representation faced a higher risk of sexual victimization, which encompassed sexual coercion, attempted sexual coercion, attempted rape, and rape, relative to women in gender-balanced and male-dominated non-STEM and male-dominated STEM programs. Even after adjusting for age, race and ethnicity, prior victimization, sexual orientation, college binge drinking, and hard drug use during college, the associations held. The recurrence of sexual violence experienced by individuals within STEM disciplines is a concern for maintaining gender parity, ultimately impacting gender equality and equitable opportunity. A cross-sectional study was conducted. Individuals, diagnosed with or without COM, from two otology referral centers in Bogotá (Colombia) were enrolled in the study. The Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media Questionnaire-12 (COMQ-12) and sociodemographic questionnaires were employed to assess dizziness and quality of life.
